Cartoonist and Traveling Instructor
Encourage students' self-expression.
Dick Evans knows that a primary challenge for any art teacher is to overcome the I'm-not-an-artist mindset of most students. It can be tough breaking through this barrier and getting children and adults to let their creativity flow.
Over the years, Dick has developed a simple and non-threatening approach to drawing cartoons that has proven to be fun and educational for even the most stubborn individuals—which is why teachers everywhere want to have him instruct their classes.
Whether it is for one hour or multiple sessions, Dick has the ability to communicate with students while helping them unlock their creativity. "It is awesome to watch an otherwise shy student open up and express him or herself," he said. "I have been told that some children are positively and permanently affected by my classes. Sometimes this is the first opportunity a student has taken to express his or her individuality, i.e., to be encouraged to let their uniqueness shine!"
Enhance self-esteem.
By utilizing his FUNdamental cartoon books, Dick gets the participation of all students in each session. Although it is a group activity, individual perspective is encouraged and praised. Every student has a unique outlook on life and his or her own drawing style. Dick celebrates the differences rather than attempting to influence how each student draws.
Have pen, will travel.

For Adults
That's right. Dick teaches cartooning to adults, too! For many years he has instructed drawing classes at Northwestern Michigan College in Traverse, City, Michigan. Typically, these classes are three-hour sessions that allow for in-depth training.
"It is awesome to see what flows from an adult's pencil," said Dick.
You're never too old to learn.
Dick is also available for business conferences and seminars. His cartooning is a great warm-up to encourage fellow attendees to meet each other.
If you need adults to relax and learn how to express themselves, cartooning is the answer. Make arrangements for Dick Evans to visit your club or organization.

Testimonials:
"Cartooning is a wonderful way to get children to try to draw and not feel any pressure to do it exactly one way. They can be creative and successful. Mr. Evans spoke so that the children could understand him, he made the lesson fun, he was very professional in the way he dealt with the children … I would highly recommend him to present at any school." ~ S. Fak
For Teachers
"Dick Evans did an exceptional job of presenting a cartooning lesson with our kindergarten through fourth grade students. He worked with nearly 100 students at a time and had them involved and attentive during the entire 45-minute lesson. … They truly enjoyed the presentation and each child felt they could draw!" ~ Sue Fak, Reading Recovery Teacher
Kingsley Elementary School
